The Youth Services Department at the Burlington Public Library provides materials and programs for children from infancy through high school, their parents and caregivers, educators, students of children's literature and other interested individuals. We believe that a child who is exposed to libraries and books will excel in reading and comprehension. Some of the services we offer are: storytimes for various ages; special programs for various ages; and Summer Reading Programs for children and teens.

Educators
There are many resources to assist learners and educators at the Burlington Public Library. Our staff is delighted to help parents, teachers, scout leaders and others who work with children find materials to assist them. Call us at 781-270-1692.

Materials to be used in Burlington classrooms may be borrowed with a teacher card for 6 weeks.

Librarians will give tours of the library tailored to specific age groups.
*
Visits to schools can include presentations and storytimes.

Materials

All Children's materials are contained on the first floor of the library. This includes Children's fiction (stories) and nonfiction (fact) books, magazines, videos/DVD's, recorded music, recorded books, and CD ROM's. Adults will find parenting books located on shelves in the play area. The Library also offers kits of children's books on various subjects which are available for checkout. The New England Collection of Children's books is shelved across from the kits.

Middle School and High School fiction is nearby on the first floor. Nonfiction books for High School students are shelved upstairs with the adult nonfiction. Middle School students may find useful materials in both the upstairs adult/teen (YA) nonfiction and downstairs in the children's nonfiction collections.

Videos and music for Young Adults will be found with the Adult videos and music located on the first floor of the library.
