FOOD FOR FINES!  Did you know that the Burlington Public Library accepts donations of non-perishable food items for the Burlington Food Pantry in lieu of overdue fines?  Bring your donation to the library and everyone benefits! 


The Burlington Public Library is a member of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC).  Through the MVLC web page at http://www.mvlc.org/ patrons may access the collections of over thirty libraries in the MVLC network.

The Burlington Public Library offers email notification for reserve and overdue notices.  As with all personal information collected by the Burlington Public Library and the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium, your email address will be used solely for the purpose of library notifications and will not be shared with anyone. 

Obtaining a Library Card: 
Burlington residents of all ages are eligible to obtain library cards.  Picture ID and proof of residency must be provided.  A parent or guardian's signature is required for children under 9th grade.

Residents of other MVLC communities may use their hometown library card in any MVLC library.  List of Merrimack Valley Consortium members.

Teachers working with Burlington students in a planned educational environment are eligible for a Teacher Card, valid only at the Burlington Public Library.

Loan Periods: 
A variety of items are available for loan to library card holders. 
Library items circulate according to the following chart:

Books 21 days
Audio Books 21 days
Kits 21 days
Puppets 21 days
Puzzles 21 days
CD ROMs 7 days
Magazines 7 days
7-Day Books 7 days
DVDs 7 days
Videos 7 days
Video Games 7 days
3-Day DVDs 3 days


With the exception of 7-Day books and 3-Day DVDs, all Burlington items are eligible for two renewals provided another patron has not requested the item.  Patrons may renew in person, online through the MVLC online catalog, or by calling the Circulation Desk at 781-270-1693.


Overdue Fines:
A fine of $.05 per day will be charged for most overdue material.  Videos, DVDs and CD ROMs and Video Games accrue fines at $.50 per day. 7-Day books and 3-Day DVDs accrue fines at $1.00 per day.

 

Food For Fines:  The Burlington Public Library will accept equivalent donations of non-perishable food items to the Burlington Food Pantry in lieu of overdue fines. Donations must be made at the library and can not be accepted as payment for lost or damaged items.
