If you want a quick and easy way to pick up your materials, have them held for you in the Burlington Public Library’s Holds Hub!  The Holds Hub is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and it’s very simple to use!

  • When placing a hold in the catalog or with a librarian, just make sure to select the “Burlington Holds Hub” from among the libraries you can have items held at.
  • Make sure you have either an active email address or SMS-enabled phone number associated with your patron account.
  • When your items are ready, you will get an email or text notification
  • Access your locker with the PIN code or QR code provided, or with the Smiota App on your smartphone

Your items will already be checked out to you and a due date receipt will be provided with the materials in the Holds Hub.  It’s that easy!

 

FAQ

How long are items held for me in the Holds Hub?

Items are held for three days, starting from the time the initial notice is sent.

What happens if I don’t pick up items in the Holds Hub in time?

Items not picked up are checked in and removed from your account.  If you were not able to pick it up in time, you can place the item on hold again.

I’m not going to make it in time to pick up my item from the Holds Hub—what can I do?

The holds will expire but we are more than happy to place the item on hold for you again!

I have a few items that arrived for me on hold—can you put them in the Holds Hub for me?

Unfortunately we cannot switch holds from one location to another

Can I have a couple of items placed in the Holds Hub to pick up later today?

We cannot guarantee when items will be placed in the Holds Hub.  The best way to make sure something it set aside for you immediately is to call a Librarian and have it held inside the Library on our Holds Shelf.  

How do I add an email address to my account?

You can contact a librarian by calling 781-270-1693 or add it online by visiting your account.  To change it online, follow the instructions below:

  • Login to your account online
  • Select “My Account”
  • Choose “Personal Information” in the resulting screen
  • Click “Edit” next to your Contact Information
  • Enter your email (found under the “Address 1” header)
  • Click “Save” and you’re done!

 How do I add an SMS-enabled phone number to my account?

You can contact a librarian by calling 781-270-1693 or add it online by visiting your account.  To change it online, follow the instructions below:

  • Login to your account online
  • Select “My Account”
  • Choose “Personal Information” in the resulting screen
  • Select the “SMS Notifications” header
  • Click “Add SMS Notification”
  • Fill in the required areas and select any of the notifications listed you’d like
  • Click “Save” and you’re done!
